Cougars boys continue winning ways

The Central McLean Cougars boys basketball team continued its impressive run through the heart of the season last week, picking up two convincing road victories to remain unbeaten and firmly positioned near the top of the Division B Region 4 District 8 standings.
Central McLean opened the week Jan. 19, with a 69-40 win at Kidder County.
The Cougars controlled the game from the opening minutes, using defensive pressure and balanced scoring to steadily extend their lead.
By limiting Kidder County’s second-chance opportunities and pushing the pace in transition, Central McLean was able to separate early and maintain momentum throughout the contest.
Four days later, the Cougars followed up with another dominant performance, defeating New Salem-Almont 65-28 Jan. 23.
The defensive effort once again set the tone, as Central McLean held the host Wildcats to just 28 points and never allowed them to establish any offensive rhythm.
The Cougars shared the ball well on offense, finding open looks and capitalizing on scoring opportunities inside and out.
