Cougars boys keep the streak alive
The Central McLean Cougars boys basketball team continued its perfect start to the season with a dominant week on the court, picking up two convincing wins to improve to 7–0 overall and remain unbeaten in Division B play.
Central McLean opened the stretch Dec. 29, with an 84–55 victory over Midway-Minto in a neutral-site matchup at Bismarck.
Head coach Joi Anderson said the uncertainty surrounding Midway-Minto required flexibility, particularly in managing rotations and defensive assignments.
“We went into Midway-Minto kind of blind,” Anderson said. “I knew they were getting votes in the state poll and that they would probably shoot a lot of three-pointers and try to pressure us.”
Anticipating a fast-paced contest, Anderson leaned heavily on his bench, ensuring players were ready to execute within the Cougars’ defensive system.
Central McLean’s depth paid off, as the Cougars wore down Midway-Minto with constant defensive pressure and efficient offensive possessions, steadily building a comfortable lead.
