Cougars fall just short in narrow loss to Harvey/Wells County
The Central McLean Cougars softball team came up just short in a tightly contested game against Harvey/Wells County on Monday afternoon, falling 5-4 in a hard-fought battle that saw strong pitching, aggressive baserunning, and key defensive moments from both teams.
River Fylling delivered a standout performance in the circle for the Cougars, throwing a complete seven-inning game while allowing just four hits and striking out four.
Though she gave up five runs, none were earned, as defensive miscues proved costly in the late innings.
Central McLean took an aggressive approach on the basepaths, with Mya Kittler, Brooklyn Tomlinson, and Fylling each swiping a base to help pressure the HWC defense.
