Cougars look to regroup after loss to Bishop Ryan

A difficult night at the plate and in the field proved costly for the Central McLean Cougars baseball team April 16, as they dropped a 7-2 decision to Bishop Ryan.
The Cougars were limited to just one hit in the contest and committed six errors defensively, allowing Bishop Ryan to capitalize and build a lead that proved too much to overcome.
“Uncharacteristic. We just didn’t play well,” said Central McLean head coach Mike Skachenko. “We need to be able to execute and have timely hits with runners in scoring position.”
The game remained scoreless through the first two innings before Bishop Ryan broke through in the third, plating four runs to take early control.
The Lions added three more in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-0.
Central McLean struggled to generate offense throughout the early innings, but showed signs of life in the sixth.
The Cougars pushed across two runs in that frame, with Becket Vaagene and Ethan Hanson each driving in a run to cut the deficit to 7-2.
