Cougars roll through Washburn, Grant County to remain unbeaten

The Central McLean Cougars boys basketball team continued its dominant run through District 8 play last week, picking up a pair of convincing home victories to remain unbeaten as the regular season moves toward its final stretch.
Central McLean opened the week Feb. 3 hosting Washburn in a key district matchup. The Cougars set the tone early and steadily pulled away, earning an 81 to 49 victory over the Cardinals.
Central McLean established control with strong defensive pressure and efficient scoring, limiting Washburn’s opportunities while consistently converting on the offensive end.
The Cougars forced tough shots, pushed the pace in transition, and maintained composure throughout the contest, building a comfortable margin by halftime and extending it in the second half.
Washburn attempted to stay within reach, but Central McLean’s depth and consistency proved difficult to overcome.
The Cougars continued to execute on both ends of the floor, capitalizing on turnovers and limiting second chance points to secure another district win.
Two nights later, Central McLean turned in its most explosive performance of the season.
