Cougars secure State Tournament bid with win over TGU
The Central McLean Cougars girls basketball team is headed to the big stage.
With their season on the line, the Cougars traveled to the Minot Auditorium on Saturday, March 1, and secured a hard-fought 67-57 victory over TGU.
The win not only cemented their place as one of the top teams in the state but also earned them a coveted spot in the NDHSAA Division B State Tournament.
The Cougars entered the game fresh off a second-place finish at the Region 4 Tournament in Killdeer, determined to extend their postseason run.
From the opening tip, it was clear that both teams were prepared for a battle.
The first quarter remained tight, with TGU holding a slim 11-10 advantage. The back-and-forth action continued into the second quarter, with each team scoring 19 points, leaving TGU with a narrow 30-29 lead at halftime.
