Cougars split final regular season games, prepare for Region 4 Tournament
The Central McLean Cougars closed out the regular season with a split in their final two contests last week, overpowering the Max-South Prairie Cossacks before falling to Harvey/Wells County in a tightly contested matchup ahead of postseason play.
Central McLean now turns its attention toward the Region 4 Softball Tournament, where the Cougars will open tournament action Tuesday against No. 11 seed New England at Wilton High School.
Head coach Jodi Fylling said the Cougars believe they can compete with any team in the region when they are putting everything together.
“The team knows that if they put their best offense and defense together in the same game that they can compete with anyone,” Fylling said. “As far as New England, the team feels good about the match up but are not going to take anything for granted.”
The Cougars opened the week Tuesday with an explosive offensive performance in a 13-3 victory over Max-South Prairie.
