Cougars stay sharp heading into District Tourney play

The Central McLean girls basketball team continued to build momentum last week, turning in two convincing performances as the regular season winds down and district tournament play comes into focus.
Central McLean opened the week Feb. 3 with a home matchup against Washburn, earning a 59 to 25 victory.
The Cougars set the tone early with disciplined defense and steady offensive execution, creating separation quickly and maintaining control throughout the contest.
Morgan Snyder led the way with 22 points, continuing her strong stretch of play. Abi Gross and Arayah Ross each added eight points, providing balanced scoring support as Central McLean forced Washburn into difficult shots and limited second chance opportunities.
The Cougars moved the ball efficiently and capitalized on transition chances, allowing them to build a comfortable lead by halftime.
Defensively, Central McLean stayed locked in for all four quarters, holding Washburn to 25 points and keeping pressure on the ball.
The effort reflected the team’s emphasis on consistency as postseason play approaches.
