After starting with a long string of wins this season, the Underwood girls have found themselves on the short end of a 1-2 record this past week, falling to regional rivals Shiloh and Grant County, but taking a big district win over Wilton.

The Comets ran up against the buzz-saw known as the Shiloh Christian Skyhawks this past Friday night, as the Skyhawks showed why they’re ranked in the top five in the state as they allowed the Comets just eight first-half points on their way to a 66-33 win in Bismarck.

Shiloh’s relentless defense frustrated the Comets the first half, as they struggled to get the ball past half-court against the Skyhawks’ pressure.

"We struggled taking care of the ball against their suffocating man defense," commented Underwood coach Toni Cottingham.

The Comets committed 32 turnovers to Shiloh’s 12, and also got out-rebounded 39-26.

After finding themselves trailing 36-8 at the half, Cottingham credits the team for being able to pull itself together and compete against the Skyhawks, scoring 25 points to Shiloh’s 27.
