Killdeer runs past CM in Regular-Season finale

Under the Friday night lights Oct. 17, the Killdeer Cowboys and Central McLean Cougars closed out their regular seasons in a Class B showdown that saw Killdeer come out on top with a 39-6 victory.
While the Cowboys controlled the scoreboard, both teams were able to test their strengths ahead of next weekend’s pivotal playoff matchups.
Killdeer opened the game with a high offensive tempo, using a balanced mix of power runs and timely passes to advance downfield.
Their offensive line provided steady protection, allowing their backfield to find open running lanes and gain consistent yards after contact.
The Cowboys were especially effective in converting key third downs, maintaining long drives that wore down the Central McLean defense over time.
Defensively, Killdeer imposed pressure early by collapsing the pocket and limiting big-play opportunities.
The Cowboys’ front seven stayed aggressive, swarming to the ball and forcing the Cougars into difficult down-and-distance scenarios.
Killdeer Head Coach Andrew Cook could not be reached for comment following the game.
Despite the loss, Central McLean showed flashes of resilience, especially in the second and third quarters, when their offense began to find more rhythm.
The Cougars pieced together several promising drives that displayed strong execution on short passes and outside runs.
Their lone touchdown came after a determined march down the field, reflecting their competitive spirit despite the scoreboard.
On the defensive side, the Cougars had several key stops, particularly in the red zone, where they were able to stall drives and force Killdeer into longer scoring attempts.
