Knipp nips Comet boys

The Mustangs jumped to a 17-point first-quarter lead last Tuesday and watched it fritter away to just five points the second quarter as Underwood ramped it up on the hard court to make the game a battle.

"It looked like it was going to be ugly all the way," commented Underwood Coach Steve Cottingham. "I thought they played really well out of the gate.

"It wasn’t so much that we weren’t in it – they played well," said Cottingham.

The Comets were able to get back into the game the second quarter, but found themselves struggling again in the third, getting outscored 18-10 as Surrey’s Noah Knipp led all scorers with 28 points.

"He did a little bit of everything," said Cottingham. "He hit outside, he hit in the middle, he drove to the bucket."

Underwood countered that with Zach Cottingham, who tossed in 20 points for the Comets.
