Roughriders place ninth at Mandan Kiwanis Invitational

The Southern McLean Roughriders turned in a solid performance against some of the state's top programs Friday at the Mandan Kiwanis Invitational, finishing ninth in the varsity boys team standings at Mandan Municipal Golf Course.
Southern McLean totaled 245 points to place ninth in the 13-team field. Mandan won the team title with 86 points, narrowly edging Legacy's 87 points and Bowman County's 90.
Leading the way for the Roughriders was sophomore Daniel Neumiller, who earned a seventh-place finish in the varsity boys 5,000-meter race. Neumiller crossed the finish line in 16 minutes, 56.38 seconds to secure a top-10 finish against a deep field of competitors.
Southern McLean placed two runners in the top 35 as seventh-grader Jace Dworshak finished 34th in 18:10.81.
The Roughriders' scoring lineup also included Easton Kugler, who placed 56th in 19:01.80; eighth-grader Theron Arbach, who was 68th in 19:19.23; and eighth-grader Colt Biesterfeld, who finished 80th in 20:19.47.
Ninth-grader Julius Schaan added a 102nd-place finish in 22:10.95, while Peyton Auer was 115th in 23:20.18.
