Sawyer, GC too much for Comets

The Underwood Comets have yet to be able to defeat Grant County in a match, but they came closer than they ever have this past Thursday, winning one set before falling to the District 9 powerhouse 3-1.

In other action this past week, the Comets battled a tough Sawyer team Tuesday, going volley for volley through four sets before falling by the score of 3-1.

Both teams had some hard hitters that the Comets had to deal with. That, combined with some unforced errors, noted Underwood coach Mary Hefta, led to the losses.

"Sawyer was a very hard hitting team," she commented. "The set scores were very close and it could have gone either way. We struggled with unforced errors and missed too many serves."

The Comets were good on only 85 percent of their serves, giving away too many free points.
