Scoring struggles hamper Comets

The Underwood Comets got what they wanted from their defense Saturday night in their season opener against Flasher, but struggled to get their own offense going as they were downed by the Bulldogs 45-20 in Underwood.
Comet Head Coach Alex Jangula credited the Bulldogs’ quick start for bumping off the Comets.
Underwood couldn’t take the lid off the hoop, scoring on less than 20 percent of their field goal attempts.
"They got off to an early lead, and they pressured us into taking some quick shots," said Jangula.
Guards Zach Cottingham and Parker Heger, and post Marshall LeRoy each scored five points to pace the Comets, while Flasher’s Peyton Gabrielson knocked in 21 points. Teammate Connor Marion was good for 12.
Going into the game, Jangula knew Gabrielson and Marion would be defensive tests for his team.
