The Underwood Comets and Solen Sioux went shot for shot, score for score, and even trey for trey for the first five minutes of Monday night’s Region 5 quarter-final game.
With just over three minutes remaining in the opening stanza, leading 14-12, Solen’s Coach Jeffrey Brandt called a time out to have a sit-down with his team.
When the Sioux and Comets returned to the court, the Sioux went on a 14-3 run to take a 28-15 lead – and they never looked back on their way to a 65-32 victory.
He must’ve said a mouthful.
The Sioux finished the first half with nine three-pointers on their way to the win.
“They’re a good team,” Underwood Coach Alex Jangula summed up simply following the game. “There’s a reason they’re ranked fourth in the state.
