Solen’s speed bests Comets

The Comets kept pace with the Solen Sioux for much of Monday night’s first round of the Region 5 basketball tournament in Bismarck.

The Comets came within five points of the fast-paced Sioux team as late as the third quarter before the Sioux took advantage of their speed and depth advantage, rolling to a 65-50 win.

The win advanced the Sioux to the semifinal round of the tournament against Flasher, while sending the Comets home for the season.

"The key for them is they had a lot of offensive rebounds," said Underwood Coach Alex Jangula.

Some of those offensive boards can be attributed to the fact that the Comets lost of muscle in the middle, Marshall LeRoy, early in the first stanza.
