Sophomore duo leads Cougar golfers. . . eventually

Central McLean Varsity Girls’ Golf Coach Toni Cottingham isn’t worried whether her players can hit the long ball or not.
“You don’t need to have a long game,” she said.
Confidence is a bigger key, she added.
She knows her players can get within putting range with a couple shots down the fairway, and then they just need to be able to focus on sinking the putt.
The Cougars return two four-year golfers – and they’re both sophomores, so this is a team that is only going to get better. And they’re not bad right now, noted Cottingham.
“Last year Emma was consistently placing in the top 15, so she has high expectations this year – and I have high expectations for her this year,” said Cottingham.
