Storm blows over Cougars

One team’s statisticians listed a 10-yard score, the other a one-yarder. One side’s stats said there was a 61-yard run, the other said it was 43 yards.
Statistics aside, nobody could argue the final numbers that mattered Friday night, as the Grant County/Flasher Storm out-ran the Cougars 233 to 70 yards on their way to a 20-0 win in Underwood.
The teams ground it out to a 0-0 tie after the first half, nobody scoring until midway through the third stanza when Grant County’s Lane Wells scored on a 15-yard run.
The Storm capitalized on the Cougars’ second-quarter loss of injured starting quarterback Trapper Jacobs, limiting the Cougars’ gains on the ground and through the air.
“Our defense was our key,” commented Storm Assistant Coach Mike Mayer. “And on offense, just staying with it, staying with our game plan and eventually wearing them down.”
