Titans, Mavericks open sectionals

By Stu Merry, BHG News Service

The Garrison-Max-Central McLean Titans squared off against the Makoti Mavericks in opening round action Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Section 6 Legion baseball tournament at Watford City. Titans Head Coach Nathan Turck said he’s optimistic about his team’s chances. "Tourney wise, we are sitting really well because we have depth in pitching," Turck said. "Out of our 13 players on the roster, 11 have been on the mound at least once this season." Another plus is that the Titans are rounding into form at the right time. "We are playing well now, and look to peak at the right time," Turck said. This past week, the Titans fell twice, 7-1 and 17-2, to high-powered Renville County, clearly the cream of the crop in Section 6. This past Thursday, the Titans rocked Makoti 21-3 in a counter game, then fell 6-3 to the Mavs in the nightcap.
