Trojans handle Comets on the boards

The Trojans used the offensive boards to put the kibosh on the Underwood Comets’ plans to pick up their first district hoops win of the season this past Tuesday.

The 22 offensive boards Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky hauled down turned into a lot of points as the Trojans upended the Comets by the score of 62-35.

Underwood pulled down just seven offensive rebounds, not giving themselves a lot of second chance shots.

"The whole game issue for us was getting rebounds," said Comet coach Steve Cottingham. "It wasn’t for lack of effort."

The Trojans were also able to force Underwood to keep the ball around the perimeter, and they were stingy when sending Underwood to the line, as the Comets put up just five shots from the charity stripe for the game.
