Washburn beat Titans in hard-fought Legion Baseball matchup
In a tightly contested Legion baseball battle July 8, Washburn Post 12 held off the Garrison Titans for a 4-2 road victory that showcased strong pitching and gritty determination on both sides.
Both teams came into the game looking for a key midseason win, and it was Washburn that got on the board first, plating a run in the opening frame.
Garrison responded with solid defensive play to hold the visitors scoreless in the second and third, before the Titans evened things up with a run in the bottom of the third.
But every time Garrison inched closer, Washburn had an answer.
Post 12 regained the lead in the top of the fourth and added another run in the fifth to pull ahead 3-1.
The Titans managed to close the gap to one again in the bottom of the fourth thanks to an RBI from Brody Seidler, but Washburn’s defense and a late insurance run in the seventh helped seal the win.
