Wilton-Wing slips by Lady Comets

By Adam Thomas, BHG News Service

If the Underwood Comet volleyball team learned one thing in their game against the Wilton-Wing Miners on Thursday, they learned that momentum is a fickle thing. One moment it’s with you and the next it goes turncoat and defects to the other side. Despite the Comets taking command in the second and most of the third set, the tide shifted when Wilton-Wing staged an unlikely come-from-behind win to take the third and eventually the fourth sets, giving the Comets the loss, 1-3. At the start, Underwood took some time to get going in the first set and Wilton-Wing got up on them early, jumping ahead 9-17. Hits by Miranda Pochant and Alix Auck along with aces by Chlorisa Hirschkorn and Taylor Sorensen caught them back up in a hurry, tying up the score at 18 points apiece. The Miners regained their composure after the Comet surge and finished off the first set 21-25.
