Piper’s Palace in Denhoff built to last
Bringing a pioneer attitude and a desire to restore spirit to the Denhoff community, former Michigan residents Michael and Janeen Piper have purchased a home, are raising four grand children, and Michael is working on restoring the former People’s Sales and Service building. These are all happening in a town with no support businesses of grocery, gas or hardware.
September Smash provides autumn fun for community
A train ran through the streets of Goodrich on Saturday, Sept. 14. It held nearly a full load of passengers on its trips up and down the streets, touring outside the park, through the center of town, past the post office and returning to the school area home station. It was driven by Dave Threadgold.
Northland shares appreciation event
Anyone, who wanted to, could see the “Attitude Doctor” last Tuesday. No cost, no shots, no diet, no bill. Just a whole bunch of good attitude and jokes that made fun of everything, literally.
Early freeze leaves damaged gardens
The early frost, then freezing temperatures finished off all but hardy garden produce. It brought an end to the local farmers market, with gardeners gathering in produce for storage and ripening indoors, only root vegetables were left outside.
Smash adds apple flavor to fun
The committee to keep Smash in September in Goodrich is going to smash a few apples into tasty dishes for “tastes.”
Crowd gathers for tax issue discussion
Taxes, a matter as sure as death, was the issue at the public meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the Sheridan County Community Room.
Fall adult education classes offered
Plans for the adult education technology classes that will be offered this fall at the McClusky School were based on the information gathered from the survey conducted by the school in August.
Flu shots available at Turtle Lake Rexall Drug
A 2003 study by CDC scientists published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) estimates that 36,000 people die each year from seasonal flu, and another 200,000 people are hospitalized. CDC recommends that everyone over the age of six months be immunized each fall with the flu vaccine.
Ms Becky’s opens in McClusky
With a quick change of hands, the drive-in along Highway 200 in McClusky went from being Ms. J’s (Theresa Jorgenson) to Ms. Becky’s. The change happened officially on August 8th.
Local repairs and assistance on delay
Local roads need repairs in nearly the entire county. The accompanying photos to this article show the severity of the water damage this spring to county and township roads in Sheridan County.
