Aggies blank Tioga 37-0
The Velva-Drake/Anamoose-Garrison Aggies kept their momentum rolling Friday night with a commanding 37-0 victory over Tioga, improving their record to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in Region 3 play.
Behind a dominant rushing attack and a disciplined defensive performance, the Aggies continued to look every bit like one of North Dakota’s top Class A programs.
Head Coach Matt Weidler credited his team’s continued focus and growth throughout the season.
“I think the guys have had great focus throughout the past five weeks of practice,” Weidler said. “The players have gotten a lot more comfortable with what we are trying to do defensively and offensively. It’s an understanding that it’s a long season and the hope is to get better as the year goes on. I think we have gotten better, but we still have a lot of things we can improve on in the next few weeks. Hopefully come playoff time we are playing our best football.”
That steady improvement has been evident in all three phases of the game.
The Aggies’ offense controlled the tempo behind a relentless ground game, piling up yardage and chewing clock while their defense stifled Tioga’s attack at every turn.
