Aggies dominate Ray/Powers Lake to remain unbeaten in Region 3
The Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison Aggies continued their impressive run through Region 3 with a commanding 50-6 victory over Ray/Powers Lake on Friday, September 26, at Velva High School.
The win not only improved the Aggies’ overall record to 5-1 but also kept them perfect at 4-0 in regional play, further solidifying their standing at the top of the Region 3 table.
From the opening kickoff, the Aggies set the tone with physical play on both sides of the ball. The offensive line controlled the trenches, giving their backs and quarterback ample room to operate.
That dominance quickly translated into points as Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison stormed down the field for an early touchdown drive.
By the end of the first quarter, the Aggies had already seized control of the game, building a double-digit lead and leaving Ray/Powers Lake struggling to respond.
The second quarter saw more of the same.
The Aggies’ defense suffocated the Outlaws’ offense, creating turnovers and consistently forcing three-and-outs.
That defensive pressure set up short fields for the offense, which capitalized with both a strong rushing attack and efficient passing.
By halftime, the Aggies were firmly in command, their 30 point lead stretching into blowout territory.
The second half became an opportunity for depth players to gain valuable experience, and they did not disappoint.
Several reserves contributed key plays, including sustained drives on offense and tackles on defense.
