Aggies edged out on the road against Harvey/Wells County
The Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison Aggies hit the road on Thursday, August 29, for a Class A non-region matchup against Harvey/Wells County.
In what proved to be a nail-biter from start to finish, the Aggies came up just short, falling 10-8 to the Hornets.
The contest showcased the competitive balance between the two programs, as neither team was able to fully seize control.
The Aggies struggled to find offensive rhythm early, unable to consistently put pressure on Harvey/Wells County’s defensive front.
Their defense however was excellent in keeping the game within striking distance throughout. However, a pair of scores by the Hornets proved to be the difference.
Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison had opportunities down the stretch, but timely stops from the Hornets’ defense closed the door on a potential comeback.
Despite the narrow defeat, the Aggies demonstrated resilience on both sides of the ball, setting the stage for what should be an intriguing September slate.
The loss evens the Aggies’ overall record at 1-1 following their season-opening victory.
With the non-region portion of their schedule now behind them, V-D/A-G will look to regroup quickly as they prepare for their Region 3 opener.
