Aggies open 2025 season looking to defend State Title
The Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison (V-D-A-G) Aggies will begin their quest for back-to-back NDHSAA Class A State Championships on Friday, August 22, when they host Valley City on their home turf in Velva.
The season opener will mark the first step in defending the program’s 2024 state crown, a challenge that looks to be made tougher by significant roster turnover.
Last fall, the Aggies capped off a remarkable season with a state title run, relying on a veteran core that brought both skill and leadership.
Graduation, however, has reshaped the roster.
Gone are quarterback Ben Schepp, running backs Hank Bodine and Braden Bossert, pass-catching threats Treyson Iglehart, Matt Jochim, and Reggie Bruhner, as well as defensive anchor and linebacker Evan Rensch.
