Garrison would open the game with a first-inning run by Kaitlyn Zook, batted in by Alexis Kastner. A fly ball from McKambrey Steele would
send home Josie Westman and Kastner, bringing the Troopers’ lead to 3-0. Hazen pitcher Maya Johnson slowed Garrison’s advancement
with a strikeout but the Troopers would see two more runs in the inning and head into the bottom up by five. The Bison were quick to get
on the scoreboard early in the inning as Ava Jungers sends Abby Hysjulien home on a ground ball to second base before stealing home shortly after. Hazen would tally two more runs by the end of the inning to shrink Garrison’s lead down to a single run. The Troopers weren’t quick to
let the Bison take the advantage, though, with Zook, Westman and Kastner all scoring a run in the second to give Garrison an 8-4 lead.
Jungers and Weisz would get on first base with walks during the second, but never find home as Hazen saw one strike out and two pop outs to end the inning.
