Bottineau gets past determined Troop

Football fans who like to see points put on the board weren’t disappointed Friday, Sept. 11 at Ray Field in Garrison.
Though the Garrison-Max Troopers came out on the short end of a 54-36 score, take away the third quarter and action was fast and furious.
There were three scores in the first quarter, four in the second and five in the fourth.
The Troopers opened quickly on their initial drive. Quarterback Noah Sloka called his own number and bowled in from six yards out at the 7:46 mark. The two-point conversion failed.
Bottineau answered a couple minutes later as Jordan Eli scampered 37 yards for a score. Brody Moum drilled the PAT and the Braves were up 7-6. But not for long.
Sloka spotted an open Nick Thompson and threw an aerial, hitting Nick in stride at about midfield. Nick did the rest on a 75-yard score. Sloka went in for the two-point conversion and after one, Garrison-Max was up 14-7.
But in the second quarter, Bottineau scored three times to the Troopers’ one. The dagger came with about 16 seconds left in the half, following a pass interference call on the Troop. Moum, who is the Braves’ QB, fell into the end zone, and with his kick, the score was 28-20.
The third quarter turned into an exchange of possessions, but the Braves scored again, and at the start of the fourth quarter to make it 48-20.
