City Council agrees pickle ball could be the next big thing

BY HUNTER ANDES
Garrison’s City Council hit one over the net Monday evening during their final meeting before the June 12 election.
Among the topics the Council discussed: pickle ball, a lagoon aerator, waste collection, a generator for city hall and the sewer plant, street and alley work across the city, record retention, pet tagging, cemetery locates, McLean County Sheriff contract and an overabundance of howling canines.
Two of the park board members came to the Council with a request to use the Auditorium two nights a week when available for the growing pickle ball frenzy that has hit the community.
They said pickle ball is the fastest growing sport in the U.S., and they can tell. Currently there is only room for one pickle ball court on the skating rink. However, they said if they were in the auditorium, there would be room for two courts.
