Cossacks fall at regionals

The run at the region level for the Max Lady Cossacks basketball team was short-lived. So was the run for the Washburn Cardinals and Underwood Comets.
The lone team from District 10 to advance past the first round of the Region 5 Tournament in Mandan was district champion Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky.
The Cossacks came into the region as the No. 4 seed. Grant County is District 9’s No. 1 seed. Unfortunately for the Cossacks, the difference showed.
The Coyotes shot better than 50 percent from the floor. In the paint, Grant County out-rebounded Max 46-25. Sydney Bentz led Grant County with 27. Three other Coyote players scored in double figures.
Max senior Whitney Huesers closed out her stellar high school career, canning 18. The next closest scorer for Max was her sister McKayla who tallied nine.
