Cougars maul Trooper 11

By MINDY IGLEHART

The scouting report on the Heart River Cougars highlighted them as a team that liked to run the ball with a couple quick running backs behind a big, physical offensive line.

That is exactly what they did in a 54-14 win over the Troopers, spoiling the home team’s Homecoming game Friday night.

Based on what they displayed, it was hard to believe the Cougars had won only one game this year, a season opening win over Oak Grove.

The Troopers got in a hole early, being pinned at their 20 on a touchback on the opening kickoff. A quick three and out forced a punt and the Cougars took possession on the Trooper 25.  One play later, the game’s first TD was on the board.
