County tournament goes to Miners

The McLean County boys tournament crown will rest in Beulah for the coming year. The Miners outlasted last year’s county champion Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky 75-63 this past Saturday night to claim the title.
The three-day tournament featured Beulah, Underwood, Max, Center-Stanton, Mandaree, Washburn, Garrison and Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky.
The Miners found themselves down 11-7 after one quarter of play, but rebounded to outscore the Trojans 68-52 in the final three frames.
Casey Dupong led the Miners, scoring 24. Adam Peltier led TL-M-M with 20.
In the third place game, Washburn outlasted Max 76-65. Jeff Rasmussen was on fire, scorching the twine for 41 points to pace the Cardinals.
Center-Stanton took the Garrison Troopers by 11, 66-55 in the consolation championship game, while Mandaree took care of business against Underwood, 58-51, in the seventh place game.
