The Max-Garrison-South Prairie Cross Country team wrapped up its regular season and now has its eyes set on regionals in Bowman this upcoming weekend. Then there’s a nice two-week break to focus on state at the end of the month on the 28th.
On Sept. 23, the team got a preview of the state course in Valley City and also got to see the majority of the competition with more than 40 schools and 800 runners.
For the girls varsity, Katherine Fox led the way followed by Christina Bingham and Hope Scheresky. For the girls junior varsity Madison Myers, Mackenzie Fuller and McKenzie Hauf were tasked with increasing their race from a 3k to a 4k. All three of them were not afraid of the challenge and took it head-on and finished with respectable times.
In the girls junior high division, Delaney Halverson led the team, followed closely by Isabella Boedicker and Emily Fannik.
On the boy’s varsity side, Hunter Baer was followed by Nate Talbott, Gage Yellowbird, and Trent Korb.
In the junior varsity division Ashton Yellowbird and Seth Roedocker led the Cossacks. The lone runner for the Cossacks in the junior high boy division was Erick Talbott who was able to improve on his time from previous meets.
