District 8 honors top volleyball talent and leadership

The 2025 NDHSAA Class B Region 4 District 8 Volleyball Tournament in Underwood wrapped up with standout performances, thrilling matches, and well-deserved recognition for some of the area’s top athletes and coaches.
Following the conclusion of the championship round, the District 8 awards were announced, honoring players who demonstrated exceptional skill, leadership, and impact throughout the season.
Leading this year’s list of honorees was Flasher’s Chaskee Schmidt, who was named the District 8 Senior Athlete of the Year.
Schmidt was a driving force behind the Bulldogs’ championship run, showcasing her consistency, athleticism, and court leadership all season long.
Her ability to elevate her team in key moments earned her recognition as one of the premier players in the region.
Flasher’s success this season also reflected the leadership of Head Coach Jerlyn Gabrielson, who was voted the District 8 Coach of the Year.
Under Gabrielson’s direction, the Bulldogs displayed teamwork, composure, and discipline, finishing the tournament with an undefeated run capped by a 3-0 victory over New Salem-Almont in the championship match.
Her guidance has built Flasher into one of Region 4’s top programs, blending experience with emerging talent.
The All-District Team featured a strong mix of veterans and rising stars from across the field.
Representing the champion Bulldogs were Jocelyn Rossow, Chaskee Schmidt, and Piper Schmidt, all of whom were key to Flasher’s balanced attack and defensive consistency.
