Fishing derby brings in a crowd

It was a chilly 34 degrees for the annual Makoti Lake Ice Derby on Saturday.
The 2021 event, sponsored by the Hiddenwoods Sportsmen Club, brought in 77 adults and 10 kids.
“(The tournament) was good. I was tired after reeling (the fish) in,” four-year-old and second place winner Cash Steele said. Cash’s dad Ethan said it took him about 15 minutes to get the 5 pound Northern pike in.
About 21 Northern pike and four perch were caught during the four hour tournament.
