Football player tandem boosts team placement

The addition of two dual sport participants helped the Trooper Varsity Boys Cross Country team achieve a 7th place finish out of 15 teams at this past weekend’s Beulah-Hazen Invitational. The addition of the tandem football player/runners of young Will Robinson and Matt Knutson was beneficial in tallying a lower total.
The Trooper cross-country team ventured to another new course this past weekend – the Black Sands Golf Course in Beulah. The location was a test run for the upcoming regional competition. Saturday, Sept. 26 proved to be a sunny 75-degree day with a slight breeze. The course consisted of many hills and steep gradual inclines to conquer and all of the runners turned in good performances and strong finishes.
Two veteran runners, along with the two dual fall sport participants, completed the varsity boys’ 5,000-meter run. A strong performance by Jonathan Price ended in a race to the finish to capture 4th place with a time of 18:27. The tandem football player/runners of Will Robinson’s 38th place finish (22:48) and Matt Knutson’s 42nd place finish (22:57) along with veteran runner Chris Dimler’s 47th place finish (24:24) helped boost the team total to the 7th place finish. There were 55 total runners in this race.
