The Garrison Titans Legion Baseball team has found a new coach in a familiar face. Former Titans catcher Bryce Hummel will begin his Legion coaching career today (Thursday) when Garrison takes on Surrey at home.
It has been four years since Hummel ended his playing career with the Titans, one that included many fond memories and three state tournament appearances.
In that four year gap between his stint as player and becoming head coach, Hummel spent most of his time in Bismarck at the University of Mary, where he received a football scholarship out of high school. “I enjoyed playing football,” said Hummel “I played for two years, but then ultimately decided it wasn’t for me anymore.”
“I graduated from the University of Mary last year with a degree in Business Administration,” said Hummel
Hummel decided to move back to Garrison in order to work at his father’s business. “I came back to help my dad out,” said Hummel, “He owns a machinery dealership, and I’ve been working there.”
When asked about his plans for the future, Hummel indicated that he preferred to live in the moment. “I’m just going to take things one year at a time,” said Hummel.
