Blood, sweat and ultimately tears.
This was how the Velva/Garrison Aggies closed out their season Saturday after a close defeat by the Bishop Ryan Lions.
The 20-26 victory of the Lions took place at Herb Parker Stadium in Minot on Saturday, during the quarterfinals of the NDHSAA  11B Football State Playoffs. Three weeks earlier, the Lions had knocked the Aggies out of their undefeated winning streak on the same field.
As described by head coach Larry Sandy, the game “was a nail-biter.”
Despite the loss, Sandy said he was “awfully proud of the kids and how they played.” There were a lot of tears after the game, “but that’s now always a bad sign,” he added. It shows how much they cared.
The team finished third in the region, with six wins and two losses under their belt.
