Garrison girls win two, lose one

BY TYSON SMEDSTAD

It was a busy first week for the Lady Troopers, who logged three games.
Karli Klein looked ready for the season during the opening game dropping in 11 points to lead the Troopers during the game versus Des Lacs Burlington on Dec. 15.
The Troopers were down coming in to the fourth quarter and forged a comeback, but were unable to clinch the win.
“Give credit to DLB. They played hard and with energy the whole game. We did not execute our game plan the way we would have liked and that’s on me. I saw some really good things that we can build on and we were short a few girls, so that hurt our rotation as well. We will just continue to work and get better as a group,” Garrison girls head coach Matt Chase said.

Three days later, the Troopers took on Flasher in their first away game. The Troop was able to get ahead early and never gave up the lead.
“We built a pretty good lead, but let it slip away, but I was proud of the girls for finishing. It’s much more pleasant to work on things after a win then it is a loss,” Chase said.
One of the team captains, Sweet Cedar Perkins, played her first game of the season against Flasher.
“Getting Sweet Cedar Perkins back brings a whole new dynamic to our basketball team on both ends. She sees the floor so well, and gets everyone involved and is active on defense,” Chase said.
