Garrison tracksters hit the midway of their season with only five meets under their belts

With no fault of their own, the Garrison track team struggles to compete.
The entire track season has been full of a set schedule, cancellations, rescheduled, and canceled again.
In only their third meet of the season, the Troopers competed at the Northwest Conference last Thursday in Stanley.

Northwest Conference Meet
“We had some nice surprises and several strong performances on Thursday,” Trooper head coach Jason Ermer said. “This was a combination junior high and varsity meet so everyone got to go, which is great for the younger kids to experience that.”
The Troopers have many long jumpers, and only a few triple jumpers, “Bella (Wimer) and Braelynn (Smith) started to click in the triple jump which was encouraging,” Ermer said. “They had been experiencing some frustrations in that event but really showed their potential on Thursday.”
Most of the Trooper sprinters achieved personal records despite the chilly weather.
“Our throwers had a decent day as well, with a personal record by Kaylee (Magandy) in shot put and discus. Javelin (throwers) didn’t set personal record, but most of our kids were close.”
The junior high’s results were similar to varsity.
“Overall, I’m happy with our performances,” Ermer said.
