GHS track team led by senior girls
“This year's boys' team is larger than I expected,” Garrison Head Track and Field Coach Jason Ermer said. “On the girls' side, our numbers are a little better.”
The team graduated several senior boys last year, so Ermer was fearful that he would only have three or four boys, but our underclassmen did a good job recruiting and the numbers are up slightly.
During the Indoor Season, which consists of the first three meets; two in Williston and one in Minot, there were many athletes that achieved some personal and seasonal bests already.
Boy’s Team
“(Sophomore) Eli Ruud will lead our young but enthusiastic team. He will be one of the boys that I think can place in the region by the end of the year in high jump, 110-meter hurdles and triple jump,” Ermer said. “Caleb Kallberg is another sophomore that has strong potential in the sprints. He had a 9th place finish in the NWC indoor meet in the 400-meter dash.”
The freshman boys include Aiden Schmidt, who is a thrower. “He looks good so far,” Ermer said.
Ermer added, “We also have several freshmen who are coming out for track for the first time, and we are looking forward to seeing what they can do.”
