Good luck charm of a different sort

By MINDY IGLEHART

A person often thinks a good luck charm as something that can be worn or put in a pocket.

Trooper senior and football team captain Nick Stiefel has a different luck charm, seventh grader Michael Heinle.

What makes the bond between these two so special is that Michael is Autistic. Michael was diagnosed when he was 2½ and struggles with socializing and friendship.

Before the Garrison-Max homecoming game, Nick gave his jersey to Michael, making him the team’s good luck charm.

Michael again donned Nick’s jersey for the last game of the season and was heard in the stands cheering for his friend.
