Heer tops local golfers
Last Tuesday was the second day of the Class B Girls State Golf Tournament.
Tuesday was much windier than Monday, which posed a problem for some golfers new to the fairly open Pheasant County Golf Course in South Heart.
It is a beautifully groomed course that boasts open fairways, with many hazards and elevation changes throughout the 18 holes.
In the team tournament, the South Prairie/Max girls finished 16th overall with a total score of 796 (+105). Addison Herzig topped her team with score of 179, followed by Kylee Heer with 197, Rylee Routledge with a 210, Abby Mikkelson with a 213, Mya Gunville with 219 and Jaeda Wohlk with 221.
Heart River took first place overall with a score of 632 (+26). Second place went to Kindred that scored 633 (+29). Coming in third place was Des Lac/Burlington with a total of 655 (+55). The South Prairie Cougars were also State Champions was in 2021.
Piper Ziemann was not happy with her performance on day two, scoring the same +30 as day 1. but she was hopeful.
