Lady Troopers ready to play

By TYSON SMEDSTAD ZIEMANN
This is going to be a season of rebuilding for the Garrison Trooper’s girls basketball team.
“It will be an interesting year,” said new head coach Brad Lagge. “Once everything starts to click, it will be very exciting to watch.”
Lagge was the assistant coach for the past two years under Sandra Essler who retired after last season. He was also the assistant coach for the varsity boys team from 1989-1997.
Steve Ruhland and Matt Chase will be the new assistant coaches. Both have coached girls basketball before, but this will be the first season all three coaches will be on the court together.
The Troopers graduated five starters last spring, and one team leader has transferred to a different school, so it will be a young team. Many of the girls on the team are inexperienced at the varsity level. But that’s not all bad.
