Netters take in VB camp

Some members of the Garrison-Max girls volleyball team got a jump start on the season this past week, being a part of a volleyball camp.

Garrison schools hosted a Pacesetter Volleyball Camp that was for all girls entering grades 6-12. The camp was Monday-Wednesday, July 6-8 at Roy Schei Gym at Garrison High School.

By all indications the camp was a success.

"We’ve seen a lot of improvement," said Coach Bridget Jacob. "More consistency."

Coach Jen Noreen observed the girls are very coachable.

"What is nice is that there’s a lot of one-on-one coaching," she said.

Noreen said it’s exciting to see what the girls have learned leading into the pre-season.

Practice begins in earnest Aug. 17 – just a month away.

The camp was under the tutelage of Bismarck State College Mystics assistant volleyball coach Josh Wastvedt. He said the girls absorbed the information and techniques and were easy to work with.
