Plans advance for pool field

By STU MERRY

Progress and planning continues for upgrades to the Little League field near the Garrison Swimming Pool.

At their meeting Aug. 13, Parks & Rec. board members visited with Keith Witt, Better Living For Garrison secretary-treasurer and GAIA executive director about the progress.

Witt presented an updated balance sheet with figures of what has been purchased and what remains to be done to complete the project. Going through what was presented the board gave the go-ahead to purchase benches, Agrilime for the base paths and to install a water line.

Another portion of the major renovation is the addition of two parking areas – one on First Street NW, the other on Sixth Avenue NW.

Witt presented two options – concrete or asphalt. The concrete estimate, including curb removal is $31,185 compared to asphalt at $37,768. That estimate does not include curb removal.

It’s uncertain if that portion of the project would be completed this fall.
