BY TYSON SMEDSTAD
Both sides of the gym were packed for the games between the Garrison Troopers and the Max Cossacks Jan. 30. Garrison ended up on top amid cheering fans in doubleheader.
The girls were up first in this friendly rivalry, keeping in mind many of these girls play volleyball together during the fall season.
It was a slow start to the match up, but Max came up scoring first.
Garrison was having troubles getting anything to fall in.
Kaitlyn Klein up for a free-throw that drops making Garrison’s first point on the scoreboard.
There were lots of shots taken by both teams, but nothing going in.
Finally a nice break away lay up for Cedar Perkins with one minute left first quarter.
One minute into the second, Garrison is starting to pull away.
Four minutes left in the second Jamie Danks with her breakaway lay up for 2, followed immediately by Teigan Hankel with another breakaway for 2.
Garrison is struggling with making free throws the first half with a less than 50 percent average. Max had a slightly better first half with free throws dropping in five out of nine.
