Thinclads wait for good weather

Thinclads wait for good weather

The Garrison-Max Troopers track team is patiently waiting to get outside and spread its wings on an outdoor surface.
The team has participated in two indoor meets, and practice has basically been confined to the gym and hallways of Garrison High School as snow and cool conditions prevail.
But competing at the Minot State University Dome has been just what the doctor – and coaches have ordered.
“It was just great for us to get some place and run, exclaimed Coach Bill Melaas, talking about the first indoor meet of the season March 29.
What he saw gave the coach cause for optimism.
“It’s still too early to tell, but we had a great meet for this early,” he said. “Some of our young girls and guys showed they want to be on the varsity.”
All of the athletes ran hard and with confidence, Melaas went on to say.
“Both Coach (Jason) Ermer and myself were very proud of what the team accomplished.”
Assisting Melaas and Ermer is Carrie Magandy.
Teams participating in the MSU Indoor meet were Minot, Williston, Belcourt, Dickinson, Bismarck Century, Langdon and Garrison.
