Titans open with big wins

Titans open with big wins
By STU MERRY

The season is only a few days old, but the Garrison-Max-Central McLean Titans American Legion baseball team is already some noise, letting other teams in the region know that they are for real.
This past weekend, the Titans took three of four in a round robin tournament in Surrey. The Troop fell in the opener this past Friday to Surrey, 6-5. The rest of the weekend, it was all “W’s”. The Titans slipped past Stanley 5-3, then Burlington and Watford City fell victim to the Titans’ spell. The G-M-CM nine took care of Burlington 6-3, then drubbed Watford 13-4.
Luke Gehring had a strong performance from the mound, yet suffered the loss against Surrey. Reid Groninger got the team on the right track, picking up the win against Stanley. Brett O’Grady and Matt Landenberger showed their stuff Saturday, picking up wins against Burlington and Watford respectively.
